I apologize for starting a new thread about that idiot but OU fans live in never never land. Here is what he posted and my response. I feel like I'm right but wanted RRS thoughts.

OU fan-
Simply non sense...he had committed to TCU believing he would receive a scholarship...NCAA rules say no other school may offer if he has committed...then Patterson, on signing day renigged his scholarship, something unscrupleous coaches do so other schools can't recruit. So he walked on and when that didn't work out he wanted to transfer but Tech made him sit out a year because Tech could...a practice some coaches have disdain for because it isn't fair to the kid.

My response to this-
Until you sign a Letter of intent(LOI), a commitment means crap. Jarret Stidham( Texas Tech commit) signed financial aid papers and then decommited and signed a LOI with Baylor. Schools can offer/ communicate with prospective students except during limited no-contact times in December and other various times during the school year. Kids across America verbally "commit" but it means crap until they sign the LOI. Patterson pulled Baker's offer which isn't unheard of when they no longer wish deal with that prospective student. Texas Tech offered a kid( Colin Wilder) out of Katy,Texas(Houston area) and he "verbally" committed to Texas Tech. At some point our DC didn't want him and we parted ways. Schools like Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas, Texas A&M continue to recruit prospective athletes even if that student has "verbally" committed to another University and it is perfectly legal under NCAA guidelines. Baker got schooled because he wasn't wanted by anyone. Kliff allowed Baker to walk on at Tech and then craps all over the only coach that gave him a shot. Kliff followed Big 12 rules in regards to transfers within in the Big 12 conference. If you wish to leave a Big 12 University, you forfeit a year and have to sit out a year as well. If OU or their fans hate the rule, then change Big 12 bylaws. Otherwise, OU fans need to shut the hell up.
