Three games into the year have at least shown me a few things about our team for discussion:
-WR. Lack of height and lack of good hands.
We're missing our version of Josh Doctson/Mike Evans. This is being addressed in the '16 Class with Vasher (6'5") and Willies (6'4") and Cox-Wesley (6'4") but by rule of thumb we can't expect a major impact from a true freshman or a JUCO in Year 1 so then you're at 2017 before you have full confidence in those guys.
We have a ton of speed in Jakeem Grant, Devin Lauderdale, and Reggie Davis. The truth is they are really fast guys with pretty bad hands. We're already missing Dylan Cantrell's hands so far this year so the question is whose the next guy up that can catch the football? Do any of the '15 class wideouts have really great hands?
-DB. Overall lack of talent or just overall youth and inexperience or both?
In the '16 class we have two commitments from 2-stars and we signed 2 high school DB's in '15 and 1 JUCO. Is this an area that the coaching staff is addressing to fill up the rest of the '16 class? I know there's the West Texas kid they have somewhat slow-played so I'm not feeling great about the future here. Does anybody have any insight?
-DE. Who replaces Robertson and Jackson?
Gary Moore looks like he could turn into a star but we are #118 in the country in sacks and yet have really good players in Robertson and Jackson. It looks like we are bringing in a lot of new bodies in the '16 class but is there talent on the roster right now that can help next year?
Not too terribly worried about RB, QB, OL and LB is something that should improve as the season goes on although I think they should start stacking the cupboard at LB sooner versus later.
Anyways, just trying to generate some discussion topics so I can get a better picture of our strengths and weaknesses..
