I'm really getting excited about the depth and potential of the defensive line this season. Broderick Washington, who was drafted in the 5th round by the Ravens is a big loss, but this team should have a lot more capable bodies than in years past. Coach Randolph spoke about his guys yesterday and said they're all looking like starters. That's probably coach speak, but it's nice to hear anyway. He also mentioned that a lot of them are cross-training at different positions because of Covid. Pass the kool-aid...
Tony Bradford Jr. - Running with the 1's, can play DE, DT, and he's going to sneak him in at NT sometimes. He's weighing 285-290.
Devin Drew - JUCO transfer playing 2nd team DT. Listed at 280 lbs.
Eli Howard - Everyone knows about Eli, seems like he's been here forever. He's listed at 280 lbs.
Jaylon Hutchings - Randolph didn't talk about him specifically yesterday, but he had a great freshman campaign and should only improve. Listed on the roster at 300 lbs.
Philip Blidi - Coach said he's up to 280-85 and has been doing a whale of a job. He's playing DT and has a chance to break into the rotation.
Gilbert Ibeneme - He's weighing 285-90. Coach said he's gotten bigger, faster, and stronger after missing last season with shoulder surgery.
Nelson Mbanasor - Randolph said he's been a camp MVP and gotten more explosive. He said he told him things to improve on after last season and he's gotten better at every single one of them. Coach is excited to turn him loose and watch him play.
Tyree Wilson - He still needs to get a waiver to play after transferring from a&m. Randolph says his athletic ability is off the charts and he's a great young man character and attitude wise. Listed at 280 lbs.
L.B. Moore - Great pass rushing ability. Might have to play some this year. Coach Scholz has been working with him and he's weighing close to 250 lbs. He's moved to DE instead of being an edge guy because of his frame and the way he likes to eat.
Nick McCann - Playing 2nd team NT. Listed at 305 lbs.
If Tyree Wilson gets the waiver, he will definitely factor in, but here's how the depth chart probably looks right now:
DE: Eli Howard, Nelson Mbanasor, Gilbert Ibeneme, L.B. Moore
NT: Jaylon Hutchings, Nick McCann, Tony Bradford
DT: Tony Bradford, Devin Drew, Philip Blidi
