My wife and I are on vacation in Russia. So far, here are the things I've noticed:
1. The young women are gorgeous, thin, well groomed and well dressed. I'm an old married guy, but for all of you young single guys, this would be a great place to visit.
2. The US media portrays Russians with an old stereotype. Moscow is a huge cosmopolitan city with a lot of wealth. It is very westernized and European. A recent article said it is now the most expensive city to live in the world.
3. The city banned all advertising outside and in the metro stations, and I have to say, I love it. No billboards cluttering the horizon, no advertisements everywhere you look, just the sights of the architecture and greenspaces.
4. This is not a culturally diverse city. 90% white and Russian orthodox. I have not seen a black person, or Muslim. The Russians seems proud of this culture and want to keep it that way.
5. This is a clean city. The culture appaerently instills in the people at a young age to clean after yourself. There also are no homeless in the metro or on the streets that I have seen. There are security scan gates at every hotel, metro, mall, or place where large crowds pass. There is also a heavy police presence in those same locations.
