Corpus Christi Move

The wife, almost-born daughter, three dogs, and I are 99% moving from Amarillo to Corpus Christi this summer. I am looking for suggestions on places to live. We are okay renting, but ultimately, we want to buy.

My job will be located on the shipping canal NW of downtown. Any suggestions? General thoughts on the city? We liked it quite a bit when we visited. Thanks.
