In viewing the roster release yesterday by TexasTech.com the biggest surprise is there were 113 players listed on the 105 man roster. My guess is that even though guys like Joseph Clark and Kyle Heffron are not technically on the 105 player list even though they are listed on the roster released by Texas Tech. A few thoughts:
1. The True Freshmen: (Landon Sawyer, Preston Scaff, Grant Caravelli, Even McHugh and Nick Keller) Usually these guys have the highest potential. They have offers from smaller schools to play but decide to follow their dream and pursue the big time. Look out for Nick Keller the kicker out of Pearland. I would think he has a shot at the kicker position with Michael Barden, Clayton Hatfield and Taylor Symmank.
2. Friends of Mahomes (FOH): Both Coleman Patterson and Jake Parker were receivers at Whitehouse for Mahomes.
3. Transfers (Adaryan Jones (DB) New Mexico State; RJ Hester (WR) East Texas Baptist; Cameron Waites (QB) Angelo State) -- We have several transfers in addition to Emeka Okafor. Not sure any of these guys are going to amount to anything but might keep an eye on Jones if he was on scholarship at New Mexico State.
4. The Roster Fillers (Christ Tompkins (DL); Luke Heitshusen (OL); Doug Wilson WR); Avery Gilliam (DB)) - Know nothing about these guys but either due to their size or the fact they show up on the roster as a senior in classification I don't expect any of these guys to see the field but who really knows.
