Work informed me that the week before the 4th of July, we are going into a shutdown. Normally, I would just take this time to go to the border and go to Central Mexico and eat some cheap tacos in nice weather.
With the whole Covid thing going on, and unknown border issues, it seems like I need another plan.
So, Colorado. Or New Mexico. Or somewhere with cooler weather that I can drive to in 16 hours or so from Austin.
Generally want to avoid Denver (I like the town, but want the mountains). I want an AirBNB with a patio that I can sit on, drink coffee in the morning, beer at lunch, and possibly whiskey at dinner while watching a mountain. With the windows open.
A town with some decent variety of restaurants, and probably a brewery or 3 to drink a HH at.
Good hiking trails where I won't die by bear.
I will be in Idaho/Wyoming/Montana in August for a week, so I don't need to go any further than Colorado.
Suggestions?
