The Red Raider Confidential is sponsored by Cardinal's Sports Center. If you
need Texas Tech gear or Under Armour apparel, the best place to go in our
opinion is Cardinal's -- they have three convenient locations in Lubbock, a
brand new store in Plano and a fantastic selection on
their website.

Cardinal's

Wreck'em Tech T-Shirts
are now available for purchase! They are the only
such t-shirts endorsed by Texas Tech and the Saddle Tramps. The Baylor game is
in two weeks, so be sure to get your gameday gear in time to Red Out the Cotton
Bowl.

Washington: 'The Sky Is The Limit.'

As we reported earlier this week, Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall
athlete DeAndre Washington did not end up visiting Texas Tech last weekend. He
did, however, watch the team's game against Texas on television. Though the Red
Raiders lost, Washington was bullish on the program's future.

"Texas Tech didn't have their best game, but they were still in it," he said. "I
just feel for those guys, the sky is the limit for them. They played kind of a
bad game, but they were still in it the whole time. I'm just looking forward to
see how they do the rest of the season."

Washington still hopes to catch one of the Red Raiders' games in person before
the season ends.

"I don't have a visit set in stone, but I know I'm going to try to get to one of
the games before the season is over."

Addison Wishes He Had Been In Lubbock

Like Washington, Missouri City (Texas) Hightower athlete Bralon Addison
(2012) did not end up visiting Lubbock last weekend as previously expected. He
told RRS that a family emergency prevented him from making the trip, but he did
watch the game on television.

"I thought it was pretty good," he said. "We played good with them up until
about halftime, and then they let it get away from us around halftime."

Even though he wasn't there in the flesh, Addison was very impressed by the Tech
crowd.

"The crowd seemed like they were very into the game," he said. "Tech played a
really good game, they just couldn't seem to finish it off in the end. I think
it was good. I wish I was there, watching it on TV made me wish I was in Lubbock
for the game."

Addison told us that he has informed Red Raider running backs coach Chad Scott
that he plans to visit the South Plains for the Oklahoma State game.

Checking In With Robinson

Eastland (Texas) forward Forrest Robinson wasn't able to attend
over the weekend either due to a lack of tickets, but told us this week that he
has rescheduled his visit to next month.

"My official is set up for October 16," he said. "I was going to try to make the
game, but coach told me they didn't have any tickets left."

Robinson, who has recently picked up an offer from USC, says that he doesn't
have any favorites, but does speak frequently with members of the Red Raiders'
coaching staff.

"I talk to Coach (Bubba) Jennings all the time," he said. "Sometimes I talk to
Coach (Stew) Robinson and every week or two I will talk to Coach (Pat) Knight. I
like the guys, I like them a lot. They seem like real nice people, and I have a
good relationship with Coach Jennings."

Still, with Jordan Tolbert's commitment and a decision from
Toddrick Gotcher expected after his visit to San Diego, it
seems possible that the Red Raiders' class will be full by the time that visit
date comes around.

Edwards Loved The Atmosphere

Brenham (Texas) wide receiver Derek Edwards "loved" his visit
to Tech over the weekend.

"It was crazy," he said. "Everybody knew me, came up to me and shook my hand and
told me they were happy I was here and were happy to have me on board. The
stadium was so loud; there were so many people on our side yelling, on the other
side, to the left, to the right.

"There were people everywhere, all of them were wearing red. It just felt like
one big unit, like everybody was together. It was crazy and it was great."

He even had good things to say about the game.

"If you asked me, I would say they had them beat," he said. "If they would have
came out in the second half a little stronger then, like I told Coach (Tommy)
Mainord, it was a little sloppy in the beginning and it picked up a lot and that
is when they started scoring their points. At the end, they kind of got sloppy
again.

"I think they could have come out with the win, but it was a great game."

Edwards gave his visit an "A-plus."

Davis Focusing On Getting Back

Houston (Texas) Klein Forest quarterback Matt Davis, who
injured his knee in the first game of the season, is focused on getting back to
full strength. He opted to work in some extra rehab this weekend instead of
driving to Lubbock for the Texas game.

"I was doing some extra rehab this weekend," he said. "It seems like I keep
going up the ladder every week. Stuff keeps getting added to my routine so that
I can get a little bit more strength in my leg."

Davis did watch Saturday's game on television, and commented on the atmosphere.

"In Lubbock, the atmosphere was crazy," he said. "The fans out there, I don't
know how many times they mentioned that. The commentators kept talking about the
fans. The atmosphere is amazing. I can't imagine what it would be like playing
in that.

"I feel like Texas Tech played a really good game. It was a great game by both
teams, but it came down to a few calls. The personal conduct penalty at the end
was huge."

Early Returns On Javarez Willis Very Positive

I've seen freshman guard Javarez Willis play twice recently and
some of the discussion from those at practice is that he is much better than
what they thought he was -- and they held a high opinion of him before. He's
comparable to John Roberson right now. He's got a feel
for the game. He knows where to get the ball, who to get it to and when to get
it to them.

They will play Roberson and Willis together a lot, because either can play point
and either can play the two-guard. If one guy can slash and get into the paint,
the other can sit on the perimeter as an outlet. It will open things up for both
players.

You're now protected, from a point guard standpoint, from foul trouble and
things like that. They're also seeing an increased work ethic from Roberson
because Willis is here.
