The Red Raider Confidential is sponsored by Cardinal's Sports Center. If you
need Texas Tech gear or Under Armour apparel, the best place to go in our
opinion is Cardinal's -- they have three convenient locations in Lubbock, a
brand new store in Plano and a fantastic selection on
their website.
Two great causes will be honored during Texas Tech's next two home games, and in
both cases Cardinal's Sports Center is front and center with their support.
First up, be sure to purchase your
Susan G. Komen gear
in time to Pack The Jones In Pink for Saturday's matchup with Oklahoma State.
Next, show your support for the Wounded Warrior Project by picking up one of
these
WWP/Texas Tech shirts. Proceeds from those purchases go to the Susan G.
Komen Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
If you order online, Cardinal's is offering free shipping on orders of
$75 or more (regular priced items only).
LSU Pursuing Tech Commit
Deja vu, right? Well, don't get too worked up. LSU head coach Les Miles verbally
offered Arlington (Texas) Sam Houston offensive lineman and Texas Tech commit
Tony Morales earlier this week the Rivals250 standout
essentially told him thanks but no thanks.
"LSU wanted me to play there, but I'm not with that," Morales said. "I want to
go to Texas Tech; I don't want to go anywhere else."
Morales still remains in regular contact with members of the Red Raider coaching
staff.
"I talk to Coach (Matt) Moore, mostly on the phone, but I e-mail Coach (Neal)
Brown and Coach (Sonny) Cumbie on Facebook, too," he said.
We also talked to his brother and fellow Tech commit,
Alfredo Morales, this week and it looks like they'll be
visiting the South Plains again next month for the Missouri game. Alfredo said
that they are "pretty pumped" about the visit and noted that he calls Moore "at
least once a day."

Clark Thought Tech-Baylor Was 'Great'
Rockdale (Texas) offensive lineman and Tech commit
Le'Raven Clark was in attendance Saturday as the Red Raiders
defeated Baylor. Although he wasn't able to have any contact with the team's
coaches, Clark said that the atmosphere around the game was exciting.
"Yeah, it was good. It was great, it was a close game," he said as the Red
Raiders outlasted the shootout with Baylor.
Clark said that the recruiting process has not really changed too much since
when he committed to Tech back in June and that the same schools are still
contacting him. Clark had previously mentioned Baylor and Missouri as the two
schools coming after him the most.
Clark is working out plans to take his official visit after the season is over.

Marquez Still Recruiting For Raiders
Odessa (Texas) running back and Tech commit
Bradley Marquez has not missed a Red Raider home game this season
and doesn't plan on breaking that streak this weekend.
"I'm ready to get there and watch another good game at home," Marquez said.
"Living so close, I don't have to take my official now. Hopefully, I will take
it sometime after football, so I can spend a little bit more time with the
coaches and things like that."
Marquez still keeps in touch with his fellow commits.
"I keep in touch with mostly all of them," Marquez said. "Most Fridays, I send a
text out wishing good luck to everybody in their games this week. I want them to
do good and represent Texas Tech. We are the future in Lubbock, so hopefully
everyone else will recognize that. I think we have one of the best classes in
the nation, and staying in touch is just another way to build team chemistry."
Along with building those relationships within Tech's current commits, Marquez
is also in frequent contact with uncommitted prospects that the Red Raiders are
targeting. Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson linebacker
Ramik Wilson is someone that Marquez speaks with regularly.
"Ramik Wilson is a guy I keep in touch with," Marquez said. "He texts me during
the games sometimes because it's not so easy for him to get here, but I tell him
it's unbelievable and I can't even explain the atmosphere at Tech. I told him we
have a great class and he would just add to it because he is a great player that
could only add to the defensive side."
Marquez added that the last time the two spoke, he got the impression that
Wilson was favoring Tech and Georgia.

Washington Has Extra Motivation
Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall athlete
DeAndre Washington has had an up and down senior season so far as
his team is 1-5 on the year, but the Tech commit has a little bit of extra
motivation this weekend as running backs coach Chad Scott will
be attending his game this week.
"He is a really cool guy. I called him last night and he told me he was coming
down this week to watch me play," he said. "It kind of surprised me but he said
it would be a quick trip but he wanted to get up here and watch me play. He has
been wanting to make it up here to watch me play at some point this season and I
guess this week was the best week for that with Tech playing at home."
The 5-foot-9, 183-pound prospect asked Coach Scott if there was anything
specific that he wanted to see from him during this week's game against Fort
Bend Hightower.
"When I talked to him he just told me that, he wants me to be me out there," he
said. "He hasn't seen me play in a game this year and just wants to feel me out
on game day. I am excited he is coming up here to watch me play, it is a real
honor and I will not disappoint him while he is here."
With the way Fort Bend Marshall's football schedule is set up, it does not look
like Washington will be able to make it down to the South Plains for an official
visit until after the season.

David Knows He Can Help Tech's Defense
Rockdale (Texas) linebacker and 2012 Tech commit
Derek David seemed disappointed with how many points and yards the
Red Raiders' defense gave up to Baylor last weekend, but noted that it's
impossible to improve dramatically overnight.
"It wasn't great," he said. "They were not playing the type of defense that I
wanted them to play, but it takes time to get good on that side of the ball."
David said that he calls Tech coaches "about once a week" and that no new
schools have hit his radar within the last few weeks.

Gray Shocked That Tuberville Saw Him Play
Aledo (Texas) 2012 running back
Johnathan Gray expressed surprise that Tech head coach Tommy
Tuberville was at his game last week.
"I didn't see him, but it's kind of shocking that he would come and watch me and
my team play," he said. "It's a good thing, though."
