The Red Raider Confidential is sponsored by Cardinal's Sports Center. If you
need Texas Tech gear or Under Armour apparel, the best place to go in our
opinion is Cardinal's -- they have three convenient locations in Lubbock, a
brand new store in Plano and a fantastic selection on
their website.

Cardinal's

Wreck'em Tech T-Shirts
are still available for purchase! They are the only
such t-shirts endorsed by Texas Tech and the Saddle Tramps. Tech will close out
the season with two-straight home games, so be sure to get your gameday gear in time to Red Out the
Jones this weekend!

Kenny Williams Tidbit

Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson running back and Texas Tech commit
Kenny Williams
had an in-home visit with the Red Raiders Wednesday, and
hosted a Texas A&M assistant the night before.

What we believe Tech tried to explained to Kenny is that he has always been
their "Plan A" at running back, but it took the Aggies losing out on Malcolm
Brown, etc. before they even offered him.

Williams is set to visit College Station next weekend, but he'll be seen by the
Red Raiders on Thursday before that visit and again on Monday. He is expected to
officially visit Tech on Jan. 21st.

More as we know it.

Jackson Hosted Willis, Prunty

McKeesport (Pa.) defensive end Branden Jackson hosted Tech defensive coordinator
James Willis and outside linebackers and defensive ends coach
Robert Prunty
earlier this week.

"It was a good visit, my mom, my brother and my sister came and sat with us; it
was a good visit," Jackson said. "We talked about what I would mean to the
program and the team and what they run, what I could do for them, and what they
have to offer for me."

As a lot of the other recruits and commits from the 2011 signing class have
pointed out, the emphasis on family has not been lost on Jackson as he states
that is one of the contributing factors as to why the Red Raiders are high on
his list.

"Texas Tech is a really good school; a school I like a lot," he said. "They have
a lot of great coaches and the things that they have done throughout the whole
recruiting process has just made them one of the schools I really like."

On what was so special from the staff, he noted, "They have just been trying to
be involved with my entire family and not just me."

The emphasis on family seems to be making the biggest difference with Jackson.

"They are pretty high on my list," he said. "They have always been a school that
I've liked; they just made themselves out much higher for me."

After taking official visits to Iowa, Oregon, Rutgers and Tech Jackson is still
weighing his options but indicated that he might be through with visits.?

Roberson Still Lists Auburn As No. 1

Fort Lauderdale (Texas) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive back Marcus Roberson still
lists Auburn as his leader. We caught up with the Rivals100 prospect earlier
this week and he was emphatic that the Tigers were at the top of his list.

"Auburn is still my top school" Roberson said, "and I don't have anything to say
after that. I'd just say that Auburn is my top school."

Auburn defensive backs coach Tommy Thigpen will have an in-home visit with
Roberson within the next few days, and Roberson said that is the only school he
planned a visit with thus far.

Roberson is No. 35 in the Rivals Top 100 and No. 2 in the nation at his
cornerback position. He has collected offers from some of the top schools in
each conference.

Castleman Hosts Cumbie

Amarillo (Texas) defensive lineman and Tech commit James Castleman
was one of the first to host Red Raider assistant Sonny Cumbie on an in-home
visit earlier this week.

"It went really well," Castleman said. "Not that I don't already know Coach
Cumbie, I mean we know each other pretty well from visiting and stuff, but I got
to interact with him more tonight and just talk about life and stuff; it was
really good."

Castleman said that their discussion focused more on the logistics of him coming
down to Tech over the summer and the paperwork involved to finish out the
recruiting process.

"What we mainly talked about was when I came down there and forms and how to do
all that stuff, my workouts, when I would be able to come down over the summer,
when I had to stay there and all that kinds of stuff," he said.

Castleman is planning on taking his official visit in January with the majority
of the commits from the 2011 class. He indicated that it is the weekend that the
Texas Tech basketball team plays Nebraska, which is Jan 21-23.

On whether he has plans for other official visits besides Tech or if he plans on
hosting members from other coaching staffs, he had this to say, "No, not that I
know of; I've already committed to Tech and that's what I'm sticking with."

Fulse Set To Visit Next Week

Fort Meade (Fla.) tight end Brandon Fulse hosted a Tech assistant coach earlier
this week and finalized plans for an official visit to the South Plains.

"It was good," Fulse said of his visit. "(Chad Scott) just showed me this
presentation on his computer about the campus and the stadium and the graduation
rate. He just gave a good presentation of the school."

Fulse said the presentation was nice and he liked seeing all the different sides
of Tech, but he insisted that he wanted to see it in person, and that is what he
plans to do on Dec. 10.

The main aspect of recruiting that Fulse said he has been looking at is the
relationship he has with his coaches. He said his relationship with Scott is
good and he has been in contact with offensive coordinator Neal Brown, also.

"We talk about a little bit of everything. Coach Scott has been recruited me
ever since the spring," Fulse said. "I've talked to Coach Brown a couple of
times, too."

Another aspect of college that Fulse is paying attention to is the environment
that the campus presents.

"Campus lifestyle is important," Fulse said. "I got to be there for the next
four or five years, so I'll be looking at that, too."

Eguavoen Plans January Visit

Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial linebacker Sam Eguavoen
said he has
noticed a drop-off in contact from other programs since he committed to Tech
last month -- but that's fine by him, as he's always wanted to be a Red Raider..

"I've always wanted to go to Texas Tech," he said. "When I started getting
offers, they would always ask me what school I would be going to and I had to
say ‘I don't know, if Tech offers me I'll surely go there.' When they finally
did, I committed the next day. I feel like it is a good fit for me."

Eguavoen is planning on joining the majority of the 2011 Texas Tech commits in
taking their official visit to the South Plains in late January.

Quick Hits

*
Here's an interesting quote from Clairton (Pa.) defensive lineman Desimon Green: "Me and Branden Jackson have talked about the guys at Texas Tech
a few times. I know they're recruiting him pretty hard and I think he's liking
them right now. We're both being recruited by Coach Prunty and I know Branden
likes him as much as I do. He's (Prunty) an easy guy to get along with."

Aledo (Texas) junior running back Johnathan Gray was named
Texas' Gatorate Player of the Year yesterday. We spoke to him briefly a couple
of days ago and he noted that Tech stopped by his school this week -- they did
not speak per NCAA rules -- and added that he plans to visit the South Plains
early next year. - Hair

* Tech has offered Dallas (Texas) Skyline junior linebacker Peter
Jinkens
.

* Houston (Texas) Klein Forest junior quarterback Matt Davis
also noticed that the Red Raiders visited his school earlier this week. "Yeah, I
actually was walking to our locker room and saw a few of the Texas Tech coaches
talking to my coaches but I couldn't talk to them. They are showing extra effort
and showing that they care a little bit more and want to make sure that I am
okay, and it is great to see them taking an extra interest in me." - Hair
