I didn't want to create another thread, but I noticed the tweet last night and was able to connect with Braden today.

Throughout the past year, Hucks received interest from Rice, Houston, Baylor and Texas Tech, but Air Force was the only program to offer a full scholarship - something he could not turn down in the end.

In fact, both Baylor and Texas Tech were showing a lot of interest towards the end of last season, both offered preferred walk-on opportunities.

Hucks moved to Air Force, enrolled and went through basic training. Call it homesick or a realization, but he did not want to stay at Air Force and asked the coaches for his release.

In the meantime, all of the communication from Air Force to Texas Tech has been done through his Offensive Coordinator at San Angelo Central. Most everything is sorted out now, but Hucks is only waiting for head coach Kliff Kingsbury to return from Big12 media days and decide if they can fit him onto the 105-man roster - allowing him to join the team for fall practices. Even if the coaches cannot add him onto the 105-man roster, Hucks will enroll at Texas Tech and join the 120-man roster, allowing him to join the practice squad and earn a scholarship for next year.

"I'm excited to have this opportunity," Hucks said. "I grew up in Lubbock and know that Texas Tech is a great place to be. Things didn't work out with Air Force, but I'm very excited to get started at Tech and join the program."

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect plans to go through orientation in Lubbock next week, then enroll in courses soon after.

The Red Raiders also added another preferred walk-on prospect from San Angelo Central this past season, wide receiver Landon Sawyer, and the two are very close.

"We are buddies, I actually transferred to San Angelo Central from a smaller school my sophomore year and he was my go-to receiver last season," Hucks said. "I know he's already loving it up there in Lubbock and I cannot wait to join him."

Hucks also shared his opinion on the Texas Tech coaches not taking a 2015 quarterback commitment this past year.

"That means there is a spot to compete for and it really fires me up," Hucks said. "No matter where they have me playing, quarterback or slot receiver, as long as I'm playing football and scoring touchdowns, then I'm just ready to help the team and excited to become a part of the program."

Hucks finished with 3,070 yards and 32 touchdowns passing along with 1,339 yards and 22 touchdowns rushing this past season.
