Bob Huggins has an idea to start the college basketball season. Do away with the scrimmage and exhibition game, eliminate these preseason tournaments that he says only makes money for the organizers, and instead do this:
Start the season over 2-3 weeks with the 2020 NCAA tournament. He says it may need to be backed into the top 32 teams, top 8 seeds or so, but it would make some money for teams and get fans excited about the start of the season while at least crowning some kind of champion.
It's an interesting idea. There's a lot scenarios to this, starting with available venues and health of players. But what of last season's seniors, those who may have left the team, any player taken in the NBA draft? What about incoming freshmen or grad transfers? Old/new coaching staffs?
