With another "Year of Suck" in the books for the major sports, it got me to thinking: what has been the best overall year of sports at Texas Tech in the modern era of NCAA sports?
To narrow it down some, lets just say the modern era started in 1970. Which year would y'all think that would be?
I'm in my mid 20's, so I can't remember before the late 1990s but I'd say 2004 would have to be up there.
Football: 8-4 (5-3) with a win over #4 Cal and a #18 final ranking in the AP.
Basketball: 22-11 (10-6) finished #24 in the AP and #16 in the coaches poll. Sweet 16 appearance.
Baseball: 40-21 (17-9), finished 3rd in the conference and made a regional appearance.
Would be pretty awesome to have that to watch these days, huh?
Old timers or Tech historians, has there been a better overall year? Share away.
