If you think of a question from now until game time, ask away, I'll answer when I get time.
@bbardwell asked...
Does Bowman start and then once hurt we bring in Colombi?
What fun in-game decision are you predicting we'll for this one?
Do we score over 30?
I could see the starting job going either way, depending on situation. If the game goes normally, it wouldn't shock me to see both guys out there on the first play.
Random 4th down decisions
No, unless the defense scores.
@CORedRaider2 asked
Would you define this as a tarp game?
There has never been a more tarpier tarp game that what will be on display in Lubbock Saturday. If someone watches this game who is not a Tech or Baylor fan... they need some help.
@ryane836 asked...
Percent chance either Morton or Smith is the starting QB in 2022?
have you submitted your resume for OC yet?
95% and that's for 2021 as well.
No, I run the ball too much to work here. Y'all would want me fired.
@jackbm22 asked...
Who would you start at QB the rest of the way assuming full health? Does it matter?
Maverick. We've seen Bowman, we've seen Colombi, and Mav cannot be worse. I'm starting to lose faith in this staff's ability to evaluate the position.
@Hollywood 08 asked...
Be honest. How much anxiety will you get every second down knowing Wells might punt or attempt a field goal?
I'll quote my grandpa here... "nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs"
@dgraf asked...
Do you think Wells keeps his job if he beats Baylor and Kansas (his win percentage for the year in this case would be .4 compared to .33 last year which is "technically" improvement)?
Does Wells keep his job if he loses to Baylor but beats Kansas?
Does Wells keep his job if he loses out?
I feel conflicted. I always love watching Tech win (especially against RU) but I would happily take the L this weekend and for the rest of the season if it meant Wells is gone.
Yes he does, but I'd be curious as to how much "what those wins look like" factor in to Kirby's mind
Probably, I just think there are too many factors, outside of performance, that would keep him safe.
Now that's the question, losing out would put the athletic department in a position of selling a program that is obviously regressing from below average... I just don't see how they do that.
@remmizero
How are you so impossibly attractive?
@TexasOL05 asked...
now that we are doing this godawful 2 QB thing, will baylor be able to sniff out our plays even more successfully based on which QB is in?
How do I put this delicately, I don't think any DC with a pulse is having trouble sniffing out what play is coming from the Texas Tech offense, regardless of QB.
@jopritch
Who do you hate more, Ashley Hodge or the Big 12 refs?
I prefer not to give people I find obnoxious mental real estate in my brain, so it's definitely the Big 12 refs, and any ref for that matter.
@sleepraider asked...
will there be more than two qb's used by Tech?
If so, will one be Jett Duffy? (I've got to presume that's the case because McIvor def cant be an option at this point amirite)
I would expect just these two to play, if it goes poorly for both, you'd think they'd have to look at Mav to finish this thing.
@Pinchers the KOREAN asked...
Not that you are rooting for Tech to lose, but would you be ok with it for the bigger picture?
Is this worst OL you’ve ever seen?
If you had to pick, Colombi or Bowman?
I'm not there yet, I got there in the last years of Kliff, but it's really hard for me to root for losses. That could be a different answer next week.
Nah, but they are incredibly inconsistent, which almost makes it worse.
Colombi, I like a QB that can move.
@HugMug asked
What, in your opinion, seems to be the disconnect between Yost's offenses at Tech compared to the other places he has coached? He seems to have had very good offenses everywhere except Tech. What's been the limiting factor in gaining success at Tech?
Baylor game: if Bowman plays, do you think he has success? What is your prediction for his passing yards, sacks, INTs, completions, TDs?
Does baylor's qb outrush Tech's RBs? Will S Thompson be 100% against bu?
I've been trying to figure that out, and I can't. The only thing I can think of is personnel. Not that USU has better personnel, just the specific type of players that Yost uses well. It's just weird because if you watched a USU game and then a Tech game, you would never guess the same guy was behind both offenses. I loved the way they ran the ball and pushed the ball downfield, we're not seeing any of that here. It might be as simple as QB play.
I think he has some success, IF he looks downfield. If we see Iowa State Bowman, then Colombi will play a lot. It's hard to predict stats because I'm not sure how the reps will be split, but I bet he's sacked less than 2 times.
No bu QBs won't outrush Tech running backs, and I can't remember the last time Thompson was 100%, so no. I also think these slow developing handoffs are killing what he does well.
@tech1978 asked...
What do you "really" believe the attitude in the locker room is like?
Has Wells lost this team?
I'm sure they are disappointed and angry, but I haven't seen any evidence of an attitude problem with the team, and I don't think Wells has lost the team. I will say that, with every loss, it's a lot easier for a "here we go again" attitude to take over the sideline.
@FordBronco44 asked...
1) what stupid mistakes do we make in this game to lose?
2) Does Charlie Brewer come back next year with the extra year or is it Zeno time (Thanks Kliff for whiffing on that one horribly)
1) I would guess something like a penalty to extend a drive for their terrible offense or a dropped pick or something to benefit their offense
2) Who knows. I'm surprised he played this year, for Tech's sake I hope Brewer stays forever, don't want any part of Zeno.
@pcbryan999 asked...
Will we see both QB's in the game at the same time?
With the kicking wows will FG be attempted on 3rd down? Maybe 2nd down will be used to get the ball on the right hash mark?
We better, just run some of that same stuff Kiffin ran on Ole Miss' first drive, might as well be creative. Although, if I'm betting, I would bet we don't.
Haha I'm done trying to predict field goal decisions.
