I wanted to throw together a comparison between last year’s team and this one. Any stat that references Top 25 rankings was at the time the game was played; not final rankings (might update this at the end of the year once regular season rankings are final). This year’s tournament seeds are based on where the Bracket Matrix has them today, which is obviously bound to change but it’s the best we can go off of for now.

2018-2019 Texas Tech after 11 conference games:

7-4 Big 12 record
13th nationally in BPI
Record vs. top 25 teams = (1-2)
Record vs. top 15 teams = (0-2)

Three losses to unranked teams by combined 28 points (9.3 deficit per loss)

Tournament teams faced (seed): Duke (1), Kansas State (4, twice), Iowa State (6), Baylor (9), Oklahoma (9, twice), Abilene Christian (15)
Record: (4-4)

2019-2020 Texas Tech after 11 conference games:

7-4 Big 12 record
14th nationally in BPI
13th in KenPom
Record vs. top 25 teams (2-4)
Record vs. top 15 teams (2-3)

Four losses to unranked teams by combined 22 points (in regulation)/34 points (including OT), (5.5/8.5 deficit per loss)

Tournament teams faced (seed): Kansas (1), Baylor (1), Louisville (2), WVU (3, twice), Creighton (5), Kentucky (5), Iowa (6), Oklahoma (10)
Record: 3-6
