I was posting about this on page 4 of last night's game thread, but I'm not going to do all of this work for six people to read it, so it gets its own thread...
United Supermarkets Arena
Boilerplate capacity: 15,098
Home attendance by game:
Incarnate: 10,198 (68%)
MVSD: 9,873 (65%)
SEL: 8,650 (57%)
UNCO: 9,689 (64%)
UAPB: 9,503 (63%)
NWST: 10,086 (67%)
Average: 9,667 (64%)
Last season's average (including conference) was 10,739. The 2016/17 average was 9,026. So we are already ahead of two seasons ago, having only played teams we were favored to beat by an average of 32 points.
Are we beating the B12 north and "basketball schools" in attendance, of course not...but comparing with the other Texas schools where most people don't even know the word basketball until football season is over, here is how we stack-up:
Average home attendance by game:
TTU: 9,667
UT: 8,260
A&M: 6,955
TCU: 6,449
Baylor: 5,099
UH: 5,013
Our attendance record (I believe) was set in 2002 when we averaged 13,743 per game and ranked #18 in the country. That was RMK's first year. Are we going to break that this year? Probably not, but I think we will realistically end up in the top 30 for attendance this season (going off of last year's numbers, #30 was 'Nova at 11,828 average attendance).
