I travel to Austin nearly weekly during legislative session. Managed not to come down here for the two weeks after Beard showed his true heel colors.....
No such luck this week. I land in Austin Mon morning and first person I talk to at Airport.... You’re from Lubbock right, we just took your coach.... yep that shit happened..... guess that is just the business now.... if you say so buddy.... really set the tone for my trip.
Monday night I come by hotel bar and it gets worse.....
I can confirm the following: Beard did not have a house ready to move into. His temporary housing is the hotel I spend 2 to 3 nights a week in. I plopped down right next to him at bar. Said nothing and ordered a drink. I kind of wanted to throw up seeing him in his damn longhorn shirt. Kind of not sure how I didnt just blurt out something turrets style....
Instead I tried to have a peaceful drink and just ignore him. He proceeded to make call after call with me less than 6 foot from him, not trying to listen but its hard when you’re right there.
I had been trying to hold out a peice of me that didnt hate him based on the final four memories I carry..... however.....
Im not surprised Kyler is gone, pretty sure even if Kyler was leaving this disdain for Beard stuff that has been spewed by some is crap. Pretty sure Beard was helping him go. Heard more than once in his
conversations .... you should call and talk to Kyler, yes I’m hard to play for but he’ll let you know I got your back.
He definitely thinks he created everything thats good about basketball at Tech and it’ll fall apart after he’s gone. Student section in particular.
i dont want to get into all the details because I dont want to get dragged into it. just wanted you guys to know... if you havent moved on, do it. I wasnt sold on Adams but we need to be in and Support Adams... he cares about Tech....
After an hour or so, I bought his and Randi’s drinks so he’d have to aknowledge I’d been there, made sure he knew I was from Lubbock so he’d have to think about all the crap he’d just spewed out of his mouth. Red raiders are everywhere, we were before him, we will be after him. You’d have thought someone who saw us show up at the garden, in austin, in minneapolis, would have learned that....
