For some reason I feel like this offseason has been different than the last few (especially under Kliff). Anyone else excited about the new direction? About how they are staying out of the limelight, how they are following the "work in silence and let the results speak" kind of mantra? I don't post much but this is my opinion.
We will be better.
The defense will be more aggressive and will create turnovers. My only concern with the D is the size of the LBS. They just don't seem very big. I think the DLINE will be improved and hopefully that will create space for the LBS to make plays. I think this is one of the best secondaries we have had in a long time and they will continue to get better as we progress into the season. We really need these guys to create turnovers. As long as the DLINE can get into game shape in a few weeks, i see them being very very improved. The depth is going to be needed. STAY HEALTHY!!!
On offense. Pat is the man. There is no doubt. As a matter of fact, I would go out on a limb and say that if Pat is pushed it won't be by Webb......
Kliff will need to lean on the run game. It's the bread and butter. The Wr's are still a little small IMHO. I'm not saying they won't make plays, but they are small. As far as WR, my breakout player is going to be against the grain as far as what we have heard. I'm picking Cam Batson. I think he will make a huge improvement this year. I think some some freshmen will make an impact, but am curious how they will handle the grind and how they will stay healthy. Lets see who makes it out of camp healthy. I see a lot of screens, runs and BOOM......bombs to Lauderdale. We have one of the best OLINES in the big 12 and we need to lean on it.
My bottom line is that is this is the most excited i've been to watch Tech football in a while. I really think that our season depends on how healthy we stay and if the LBS can make plays. I'm not concerned about the secondary or the Rb's as long as we lean on them. Can we make some noise? I think so...... My only concern is are we big enough to play with the Arkansas and Oklahomas on our schedule? GUNS UP everyone.
Edit: I'm writing this on my phone while at work so if anyone has an issue with grammar or punctuation...suck it.
