Hi gents - asking this question for a coworker who is in Contractor hell.
Got a bid for a major home addition - estimate was 6 months and $255k. Took over a year, almost laughable number of issues, delays, headaches. Wrong supplies ordered, mistakes that lead to having to repurchase lumber/trim/cabinets, etc. Ended up doing a ton of the work themselves (flooring, tiling, removing walls, stripping ceilings etc) despite it being included in the estimate. Already paid out $300k.
Just received final invoice from Contractor for another $105k. So a full $150,000 more than the estimate.
I've never dealt with this so i dont know the next steps, but what would yall suggest?
