I was listening to a discussion about Civic rights (rights due to citizenship ) and human rights. This guy called in to the show and said, "I am an aboriginal American. We allowed the census to classify us in 1800. That's why we cannot get reparations. We need to be classified correctly so we can get paid our reparations."
The host responded "You just took this conversation in an entirely different direction. What does that have to do with citizens being entitled to certain rights like voting?"
I had two thoughts come to mind. First, what the heck is an aboriginal American? Second, who are these grown people that continue to sit around wanting to get paid reparations?" Good gracious I cannot understand why people waste valuable time longing to get paid for stuff people did 150 years ago.
