Seeing videos of folks in Milan city-wide giving rounds of applause to all the healthcare providers fighting CV19 got me thinking. I know there have got to be tons of HCPs on RRS - either members, or related to members (or friends of members) who are still going to work in the face of this pandemic.
So how about a virtual applause here for them? If you know a member or a member's relation or friend, say a little something about them here. We're all in this together.
Mine:
My sister who is an ER physician in Austin. She's been working 12-hour shifts. She's also in the at-risk category - a two-time stage-4 cancer survivor who has had four major surgeries for that cancer. I asked if she could stay home and she said "no - we're prepping because we all have to be in on this. I have to use my training and education where it does its best." My 7-year-old "miracle baby" niece (doctors told my sister she wouldn't be able to conceive after chemo yet she did) misses her mother daily but is also proud "mommy is tough and girls rule".
To all our member and member-connected HCPs - thank you thank you thank you. You are going into the fire, while the rest of us bitch about having to stay home, work, and teach our kids.
