Was very similar to ours and they played a weaker Eastern Washington team.

How much of a meltdown do you think is going on over there? I think they'll be fine, just like us.

Like all of you, I'm pretty disappointed with our defense. I have no idea how good SHSU really is, but I think they're probably a few light years ahead of UTEP, Central Arkansas, and even KU. With that being said, they're still an FCS team and we won the game as we should have - just like #7 Oregon. Oregon will likely do some heavy soul searching this week and fix their defensive issues like good teams do. I honestly think we can do the same - but only because we now have Gibbs. If we had last years D coaching staff? We're screwed. 5 win season would be our ceiling.

Our offense is special. Like 2008 special - maybe even better. I realize that's a huge statement after one game against a FCS opponent, but it's the one thing that has been hyped all offseason that actually came to fruition. And here's the scary (good) thing - it was actually pretty sloppy at times. 9 drops, Webb inserted during a big lead(instant stall), and an unlucky INT from Mahomes. We could have put up 80 points pretty easily - for some reason Kliff backed off and I'm not so sure why. Hanging 80 on anyone would have brought this fanbase and this team together pretty firmly.

I really can't praise Mahomes enough. He's still insanely young and inexperienced, but he looks like a 5th year senior out there with the confidence of a lion. Kliff has lucked out again and found himself another stud at QB that reminds me a lot of his last one.
