Art Kaufman did some good things here in his one year, and many wanted him to stay on under Kliff (which in hindsight would have changed his tenure dramatically, I'm betting).
In 2012 we finished 38th in Total D. So far in 2022 we're 46th, so in the same neighborhood.
What say you? It's been 10 years since we last had a decent defense, which one are you picking as the better one?
For my money give me 2022. I think the 2012 D was more about feasting early in the year on lessor competition and we kind of faded as the year went on and even got blown out in a few games. Other than the TCU game I don't really recall the defense being a factor in keeping us "in" a game. Not the case this year where the defense has been more relied upon while the offense had struggled. Our losses have all been relatively close and that's with the O often putting the D in bad positions. I don't see us getting straight up blown out even if we do drop another game.
