People (mostly minorities in the south) had to take a Literacy Test before they could vote. The goal was to keep them from voting. Silly me. I assumed the test would have questions like, "Who was the second president of the US?" Naw, that really wouldn't suit the purpose of the "literacy" test, would it? Vote as if someone died for your right to vote. Because they did.
