Big12 Expansion

Once Texas and OU leave, the Big12 will have 12 teams. Both the SEC and Big10 will have 16. To secure the future, it probably makes sense to add 4 more to get to 16 as well. So who do you add?

Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah may make the most geographical sense. But Oregon and Washington are bigger/better brands. I think the Big10 will go after both Oregon and Washington, but if they do not would you add them to the Big12 plus the Arizona schools and call it a day?

The Arizona schools are a given if we expand. Adding Oregon and Washington adds risk when the Big10 comes calling, but how do you leave them on the table and add Utah/Colorado?

Thoughts?

KU suites at football stadium

I thought you all would enjoy this.... KU recently approached their big donors to purchase suites at the new stadium. Depending on location, the cost was $1 million, $5 million, or $10 million for 15 seats. I believe this is per year. There were very few takers. Now, KU is telling them their basketball season tickets are tied to suite purchases. I'm sure extortion will go over well. :)

CBB Coaching Carousel

I will attempt to provide a timeline here for people that don't want to read through everything.

Wed, April 10, 9 AM CT: it was reported by Trilly and a few others on discord. Scott Drew has been asked to make a decision in the next 24 hours. If he says yes, Grant McCasland will be on the clock for the Baylor job.

Wed, April 10, 10 AM CT: The matador club tweeted out "The Coach Grant Era is just getting started..."

Wed, April 10, 12 PM CT: Scott Drew tweeted a picture of him at lunch in Waco. Initial response was positive as most thought he had flown to Lexington earlier that day.

Wed, April, 10, 9:30 PM CT: Darby Brown a reporter for Waco KWTX reported that a plane landed in Temple TX around 7:30 PM from Lexington. While Scott Drew obviously didn't get off the plane, members of his family did.

Wed, April, 10, 9:50 PM CT: Trilly and sources have reported, "Baylor has engaged Grant McCasland in discussions to become their next head coach. The offer is very lucrative and there is optimism in Waco he would take it. McCasland expected to meet with Texas Tech brass tomorrow likely to let them counter Baylor's offer."

Wed, April, 10, 11:00 PM CT: Baylor #1 insider, Ashley Hodge, who is heavily connected with the Scott Drew family reported that he thinks he's staying. Immediate family is not on board.

Thurs, April 11: Decision expected to be made today. No official time set yet.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with a priority OL target

Just got off the phone with Logan Schram, who will be announcing his commitment Sunday.

Got posted in the other thread that it could be down to Texas Tech and TCU, but I believe Arkansas is still very much in play. Schram noted that it’s hard to beat playing SEC football and that he had a good time on his OV this past weekend. Is very fond of their OL coach Eric Mateos and their room there.

I do think Tech is still in a great spot and wouldn’t be surprised if he committed here. Schram admitted it was a bit worrisome when Stephen Hamby left the program but he’s really liking Clay McGuire and I think that connection will be big here.

Joey has been recruiting Schram pretty heavily himself. Expect a commitment to drop sometime mid-day Sunday. No decision officially made yet, Schram said he still needs to sit down to talk with his parents about it.

This woman works for our fine institution

Hired by TTU in 2023. I won't get into the human aspect of her statements, but there is currently one case that loosely tied to bird flu. She wants to test every cow in America. That's 87.2 million tests. Surely she wouldn't have any personal financial gain attached to doing this.
It's also unbelievable that people like this continue to work their way up the institutional pyramids.

Curious people’s thoughts on the propensity of these mega threads that cover a broad subject, like Portal Updates or Big 12 Expansion thread. Not talking about single subjects like the Ukraine war one.
